Typical Journey

  • Day 1: We arrive in Venice, check kit and get to know each other.
  • Day 2: Today we start our journey; after some early morning shopping for lunch, and any missing pieces of kit, we start up the mountain, where we spend our first night in a rifugio at about 1900m.
  • Day 3: This is a harder day than yesterday; but the rewards are also greater! Taking in a spectacular via ferrata, and ending in a rifugio overlooking the lush Cadore valley.
  • Day 4: We have an easier day - with an ascent of a 3000m peak and an afternoon to catch our breaths.
  • Day 5: We start early so that we can complete the nearly 1000m we will be covering in ascent today before it gets too hot. The valley we walk through is often covered in Edelweiss this time of the year.
  • Day 6: Though relatively easy day, We do cover a reasonable distance; lunch at an 'alpeggio' and an afternoon lazing around a glorious lake.
  • Day 7: Today is our hardest day, when we ascend another 3000m peak. The ascent is via a ferrata that provides excellent exposure and stunning views!
  • Day 8: We get picked up at the roadhead, from where we travel back to Venice... Already looking forward to the next time!
  • Note: Of course, some of you may wish to stay on, to explore the magic of the Dolomites - so take a peep at Culture from where you can find links to other websites; or you may want to join us for a further week, and explore a different region...

Vie Ferrate and Trekking in The Dolomites

Our trekking excursions are designed to offer a level of excitement and challenge beyond just trekking from one hut to the next. All of our journeys include three or more days of vie ferrate. While we rope up on certain sections, you do not require any rockclimbing skills (though we can arrange trekking excursions to include higher grade climbing, upon request). As long as you are sure-footed on steep terrain, you'll be more than comfortable. For those uncertain, and who need some scrambling exposure (combined with a strenuous trek) we can arrange a one or two-day weekend excursion in the Snowdonia region.

If you want excitement in majestic surroundings, accompanied by experienced mountaineers, reserve your place now.
